Weevil 0.5.8 (build 22) is now available to external TestFlight testers. This update is built around a simple idea: Weevil should take care of the organization so you can stay focused on sound.
More reliable file loading
We rebuilt the Load Audio path in the top waveform control so choosing another file consistently refreshes the waveform and source state—even when you select the same file twice.
Weevil can also receive supported audio files directly from Finder. Use Open With → Weevil, or drag a file onto Weevil in the Dock. It is a small change that makes Weevil much easier to place in the middle of an existing sample workflow.
Exports that explain themselves
The Accept workflow now gives every result enough context to remain useful after it leaves Weevil:
- A session name is required before export.
- Accepted results are organized inside a folder named for that session.
- Every exported filename includes the actual BPM.
- An optional date can be added to filenames.
The goal is simple: when you open a results folder inside your DAW next week—or next year—you should not have to guess what belongs together or how fast it was made.
Your beta history stays with you
This update preserves existing beta history and settings. It is also a universal macOS build for both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
What we would like testers to try
Load several audio files one after another from the top waveform control, including loading the same file twice. Try opening a file from Finder or dragging it onto the Dock icon. Then accept a few results and confirm that the session folder and BPM filenames make sense when you bring them into your DAW.
Build 22 has passed TestFlight Beta App Review and Weevil 0.5.8 is now available to existing testers. Development remains on schedule for the public 1.0 release on September 1, 2026.
